One of the best stays of my life. Everyone should experience a Ryokan in their life and this one takes the cake. Great staff and service is just a small part of it. A private Onsen overlooking lush green trees with a river flowing through is a view that stays with you. Luxury amenities that are totally worth the price. The chef was so amazing at accommodating all dietary restrictions. The dinner and breakfast (both Japanese style) were experiences of a lifetime. The staff was in constant communication with us well before our arrival. Highly recommended.

Very professional service! The staff there really take care of you and offer free rides to and from train station. Rooms are really nice and of quality! The traditional Japanese meals are very special and have huge variety too!

Amazing experience. Well worth the price in my opinion. They really did their best to accommodate any dietary restrictions. The in room baths were nice, I really liked how the bath temperature could be self adjusted, as I’ve been to other ryokans before and they were always boiling hot.

Style. Taisho era traditional onsen Setting. Hakone Suishoen is a cultural property that belonged to the Mitsui family, built 1925 Explore. Hakone. Was here late October, Hakone is a beautiful area and it is almost autumn foliage season Rooms. 23 rooms on the property surrounded by old maple trees and bamboos. Two beds in room Hananome. Sisley amenities. Large shower area that steps out into the outdoor onsen which faces the trees, found it to be truly restorative as I felt a bit beaten down when I arrived. Complimentary mini bar (except for the champagne and Macallan). Dark wood furnishings in my room looked dated and room had very little windows and natural light @ the hotel. great service throughout my stay, although strange to be served welcome tea in a paper cup. Didn’t try the public onsen. High quality souvenirs in the restaurant and lobby shop. Meals in the gorgeous historic Mitsui property Food and drinks Excellent traditional kaiseki dinner and breakfast in a private room in the historic Mitsui residence (aka restaurant Momiji). Built 1925 but still comfortable (ie floor heating) I was in Japan for three nights and while this was not a Michelin restaurant ( tried a few during this trip ), dinner here was my favorite and my comfort food. I kept on thinking about how food is functional medicine and this place hit the spot Prices. Moderate $662 as included a delicious dinner and breakfast Rating. 4/5 ( everything was perfect except for the welcome drink in a paper cup and my room’s decor/lighting )

Look no further if you are looking for a place to stay at Hakone! Great rooms and facilities but the staff made it memorable. Kanako went out her way to made a picture of our wedding anniversary made for us overnight - expect Ritz Carlton service and nothing less! Kudos also to chef Narita and Sofia for exceptional service!

I would give 0 star if I can for their customer service. I made a booking via Expedia and Agoda and sent them an enquiry regarding the children meal details, they replied my first enquiry in Expedia at first and no longer reply my further enquires regarding the children meals. I thought they just overlooked my message and I resend again, yet still got no reply after 2 weeks. I tried to contact them via Agoda and again no reply at all for many days. I expect at least a reply from this so called 5 star hotel? Finally I sent them an email directly to ask about the status of my enquiries and tell them if I do not hear from them I might have to cancel the booking. what surprised me the most is they replied within hours and said I can cancel the booking by myself via Expedia. We believe this company do not want to take our booking, possibly racist issue? I don't know and I am very disappointed with their behaviour and customer service. Be aware if you would like to book this place as they might treat customers differently.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hakone Suishoen, a truly exceptional establishment that exceeded all expectations. From the gourmet Teppanyaki dinner to impeccable service, Hakone Suishoen is a true standout. The culinary experience at Hakone Suishoen was top-notch (certainly Michelin star quality). The Teppanyaki dinner was a culinary masterpiece, a must-try for food enthusiasts. The staff at Hakone Suishoen demonstrated remarkable professionalism and attentiveness. They consistently went above and beyond, ensuring a memorable stay. Hakone Suishoen boasts a blend of modern luxury and tradition. Spacious, well-appointed rooms, top-notch facilities, and an inviting spa make Hakone Suishoen a true retreat.
